PEEKs, POKEs, & SYSes, part 46
by Jim Weiler and Reggie Beavers
======================================
-------------
IN CONCLUSION
-------------
Let's see what we've learned in the
past few months... We know how to
define instruments with ADSR. We can
further define them using waveform
and pulse rate, and we know how to
set pitch. It sounds like we know
everything we need to make music.
But we haven't covered everything
there is to know about Commdore 64
sound... not by a long shot. You
can filter the voices; you can
"ring modulate" them; you can play
them in the background while other
things are going on. But what we
HAVE given you will get you started.
If you want to become a sound
professional, I suggest you do what
most of us have done: get out the
reference manuals and start
experimenting. Learning by doing
really is the best way.
What did WE do for you this month?
Well, we put together three short
demo programs:
PPS #46, YIKES, and HORRORS.
PPS #46 is our featured demo. It's
a two-octave, one-note-at-a-time
organ keyboard. Not very fancy, but
it may get you started making music
with your 64. YIKES and HORRORS are
just some junk sounds we came up with
while we were experimenting. If you
want to hear those two, you'll have
to LOAD and RUN them yourselves.
